Hello Everyone,

I hope you’re having a good time zone. I can’t believe it’s already October! Granted, October is my favorite month of the year. It also happens to be the month of my birthday, but I swear there is no connection between the two. 🙂

I hope wherever you are, that you are enjoying the season, and that you are coming into October with a refreshed mindset, a refreshed spirit, and tackling all of the goals–especially those end of year goals–you want to accomplish. 

Speaking of end of year goals, the IGDA has a few end of year events coming up. First, we have the Global Industry Game Awards that will premiere on YouTube on 26 October 2022 at 5pm UTC. The GIGAs is where we will highlight and celebrate individuals and teams who have contributed to the amazing games that we all love. We’re really excited to announce the winners of the GIGAs on 26 October! 

Following that, we will be moving into our next event, PathfindinGS, where we will have a six day conference over the course of three weeks highlighting speakers and developers across various regions of the global south, including: Latin America, Africa, Middle East, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and more. 

In addition to our events, some of our partners are having events this month as well. For example, Amazon AWS is hosting a game jam with partners around the central theme of the World Cup. Additionally, we have more information in our typical insider newsletter format. Please read through it, and let us know if you have any questions. 

In closing, I would like to express my solidarity and the IGDA’s solidarity with those who are protesting in Iran for a just and equitable life. May you all stay safe and healthy.
