2020 Chapter Awards (Growth): Kansas City
3 Nov 2020Los Angeles, Seattle, and now Kansas City! IGDA Kansas City, recipient of the Creating Thriving Communities award during the 2020 IGDA Annual Meeting, is a great example of an IGDA chapter helping indie developers realize their dreams without needing to uproot and move to an expensive locale.
Starting with the goal of supporting small game developers, the IGDA Kansas City board reached out to small developers in their community and welcoming them into IGDA as an support and resource for developing games. While COVID may be halting some in-person meetings, Kansas City’s hard work pre-pandemic led to a larger community of consistently attending members, created a dedicated space for members to grow and learn, and set Kansas City on the path to become a thriving game development community.
