Mark Stanley to Chair Indie Special Interest Group

9 Apr 2020

The IGDA is proud to announce that Mark Stanley will be chairing the Indie SIG, which supports indie developers around the world.

Under his current role as President of Playful Studios in Dallas, TX, Stanley brings a wealth of game development experience and indie studio advocacy to this role. Prior to joining Playful, Stanley held various executive leadership positions, including head of new ventures and diversification for GameStop, where he founded and led GameStop’s indie publishing division (GameTrust). Stanley was also part of Sony PlayStation’s executive team, with his work being instrumental to the growth of that platform across Latin America and the world. Stanley will retain his role as President of Playful Studios.

The core of Stanley’s vision for the IGDA Indie SIG is to better support its members by taking an active role in guiding and advising independent developers through the various challenges that face our global dev community. He will focus on key areas of indie success, including strategic planning, diversity, business development, production and team design.

“The global video game industry is constantly evolving, and the IGDA has remained a cornerstone of guidance and support for the community for decades,” said Stanley. “I look forward to engaging with independent developers across the globe to strengthen IGDA’s impact in the success of their studio, their content, and their people.”

Mark has been an advocate and supporter of the indie dev community for years, and we are excited to have him lead the Indie Special Interest Group at IGDA. His experience in game development, publishing, business operations, strategic partnerships, developer relations and sales and marketing will be a significant resource for indies around the world.
