Partner Spotlight: Riotloc

19 Dec 2019

Today we would like to shine a spotlight on our partner Riotloc, a localization studio for narrative games and a proud Gold Partner of the IGDA.

Riotloc is a syndicate of localization teams built on titles of Bethesda, Ubisoft and CDProjekt. They specialize in complex games that require good writing, cultural adaptation and stylization efforts.

Riotloc prefers handcrafted work. Instead of being a conveyor belt serving everyone, they focus on very few projects at one time and do an image-building work. They remove the overhead, bring the whole team together, and trigger a creative process between localization writers. Riotloc is not mere outsourcer. They work not with text but with universe – conveying its taste to foreign players.

Developers who share their approach are welcomed as their friends. Riotloc works with Larian Studios, THQ Nordic, Focus Home, Raw Fury, and smaller indies, all with great ideas.

When asked about their support of the IGDA, Vladimir Konoplitsky, Head of Riotloc, stated “Being a part of IGDA is a good chance for us to share knowledge with like-minded people, colleagues and first-time developers. It is an opportunity to promote the idea that writing and localization have a strong impact on players’ perception of a game.”

Check out Riotloc’s recent release: Neo Cab, a cyberpunk adventure now available in Steam, Apple Arcade and on Switch. Localization features whooping 16 languages, characters culturalization, fonts adaptation and 400+ localized pages of main character’s journal!
