Letter from the Executive Director – February 2021 – Black History Month Celebrations
1 Feb 2021Greetings, IGDA and other members of the game industry,
The start of 2021 has not been as great of a depart from 2020 as many of us were hoping. I wanted to direct you to the resources that we released last month to help navigate the stress and anxiety of these challenging times.
This month should be a month of celebration and reflection. Black History Month serves as a reminder of the great accomplishments of Black people who had previously been left out of our history books. It is a time to reflects not only on their actions and achievements, but to also celebrate the Black creators, influencers, and heroes of today.
We all deserve to be empowered to pursue our dreams and be recognized for our accomplishments. In uplifting each other, we pave the path for those who come after us and can reach towards our full potential.
The IGDA will be shining a spotlight this month on the Black game developers within our community. If you would like to share your efforts and accomplishments as part of the IGDA’s Black History Month celebration, please submit your information here.
Finally, the voting deadline for the IGDA’s 2021 Board of Directors elections is fast approaching. If you were an IGDA member in good standing on January 1st, 2021, be sure to check your email for “Voting Information for the 2021 IGDA Board of Directors Election” for your ballot.
As always, stay in good health and spirits.
Warmest Regards,
Renee Gittins
Executive Director, IGDA
