Hey, Gmail users! Click to see the full, unclipped version. Don’t miss the jobs and other good stuff at the end!

We would like to take a moment to acknowledge beloved community leader and developer Andrew Simon Thomas, who passed away on June 1st.

Andrew was a co-founder of the NYC Gaming Discord, one of the largest and exemplary community spaces for NYC Game Devs. Andrew’s work included Shillelagh, a retro arena shooter recently featured in a tournament at Wonderville, balance board-powered rolling game Roll Control, and spatially based strategy board game Tesserax Wars.

In an interview with Playcrafting about the process behind Roll Control, Andrew spoke about his focus on community for the project, acknowledging the various other developers who helped along the way and contributed to the creation of the game’s level editor and Discord channel.

He also worked at the 3D printing platform Shapeways in NYC, helping customers print and sell their art, later taking on various other roles to hone his skills as a Community Manager.

Andrew’s loved ones have launched a GoFundMe to assist Andrew’s partner, Kayla, with unexpected expenses for anyone who’d like to donate. A memorial site has also been set up to allow the sharing of memories, offering of condolences and contributions to charity.

An obituary has also been published by Gamedeveloper.com
