  • The NYC Summer of Games is live through September! Check out the full lineup for this summer on the NYC Digital Games page

  • 2023 marks the 20th anniversary of Games for Change. This year’s Games for Change Festival will be bigger and better than ever, including newly expanded programming like the first-of-its-kind Games & SDG Summit at the United Nations, the flagship Games for Change Festival, the cutting-edge XR for Change Summit, and the inaugural Next Gen Fest for youth.

  • Hireability Gaps and Frictions Between University Game Programs and Industry Hires

  • The IGDA has published a new study in partnership with the Department of Informatics at the University of California – Irvine highlighting significant gaps between university game development programs and industry recruitment expectations and hiring needs. Read the full press release here
  • Valkyrie Jam is a ten day game jam for gender minorities who are comfortable in a feminine space. It takes place in a cottage in northern Sweden and will be held July 14th-23rd.
  • The Road to Devcom Workshop is a free crash course available to IGDA members before Devcom on networking, negotiating, and communicating in different cultures. This series from Conduit covers business development skills every game developer should have before attending a convention, or talking with just about anyone outside your team. Register here!

  • Talks from the 2022 Game Devs of Color Expo are continuing to roll out! Check out the GDoCExpo Youtube channel each week to catch up on all of the most recent talks.

  • Miss the Games for Change Student Challenge awards ceremony? You’re in luck – it’s now available on their YouTube channel! This year, the Awards highlighted 298 students and a handful of educators from 107 schools across the United States, including the Grand Prize Winner – Buddy System by Finneas M., Eden B., Alexander S., and Warren K from Pasadena High School!   • Submissions are now open for the 3 month Fall 2023 Wondercab residency! With the residency beginning September 1st, submissions close on July 31st

  • Blink Land – A mobile game that teaches you about eye health in partnership with Midnight Hour Games and the American Optometric Association. Available on IOS and Android!

Ongoing Initiatives

  • Applications to join GUMBO are open! GUMBO is a non-profit collective of indie game creators located in Dumbo, Brooklyn formed to inspire and motivate each other, stay current in the indie game makers community, and expand an already amazing skill-sharing network.

  • In support of Wonderville, consider becoming a member of Death By Audio Arcade to earn discounts on event tickets, help the team raise funds to build new arcade cabinets and make other cool things happen with local game devs!

  • ANNY Exchange is a Talent Connect Initiative for Animation Nights New York. Want to participate and be added to the database of Animation Talent from all around the world? More info here

Radical Experiments: Making Space/Breaking Space – Eyebeam presents a 3-day, hybrid digital and IRL showcase that is free and open to all, highlighting Eyebeam’s most recent cohort of community organizers and radical artists.

Networking and Social Impact at Unity – Join Unity at the Unity Technologies Hub for an evening of networking and a fireside chat with Christopher Kovalik, the Creative Director of Rushdown Revolt, and Thomas Winkley from Unity and Pluralsight.
