We’d like to extend a HUGE thank you to everyone who attended and exhibited at our first Game-A-Palooza! The turnout was amazing and the games were incredible!
Due to the outpour of positive feedback, we’re excited to announce that Game-A-Palooza will return! More details in the coming months—stay tuned!

Qualia by CMY2K is a retro-inspired Interactive Fiction text game where you analyze and categorize two participants based on their responses to a series of questions. Are they really human? Are you?
 

Ollie-Oop by Almost Playable Games is a game about a skateboarding dog named Ollie, who goes on the adventure of his dreams!
 

Captain Corgi: Planetary Problem Solver by WhaleFood Games is a short narrative adventure where you explore the Milky Way on your cosmic sailboat, land on floating worlds, and lend a hand to the eccentric inhabitants of a storybook universe.
 

Shootlanzer by Munity Games is a fast-paced 2D shoot’em up where players test their reflexes as they blast their way through squadrons of enemy types.
 

Gusty by Tiger Blanket is a grid based puzzle adventure game where you guide your sailors home through treacherous waters. (private beta password: igda)
 

Future Vibe Check (Steam page coming soon!) by Manik Bhat is an automation game where your factories make music.
 

Scramble Star Crossing by Dusk Sharp is an action-packed puzzle versus game where you match stars to clear the skies.
 

GlaiveBound by Most Dangerous Games is a Zelda-inspired co-op adventure in a magical world full of intricate puzzles, treacherous dungeons, and fearsome foes.
 

Capitalism Craft by Most Dangerous Games is a satirical clicker where you play as a savvy entrepreneur and use your business-acumen to hire lowly desk workers to make you tons and tons of money!
 

WHITE : ANASTASIS by Sitting Ass Games is a first-person, open-world adventure game where you discover unseen creatures, battle malicious entities, and repair critical factory installations to restore energy to the Real World!
 

darkwebSTREAMER by We Have Always Lived In The Forest is a horror RPG sim in a fully procedurally generated world where you manage your stats and try to survive your increasingly haunted apartment through endless sinister stories.
 

Unwound by Wirescribe Corp is a 3D narrative RPG where people are objects, candy is currency and you must use found objects to build yourself up from a sentient ball of yarn.
 

Neon Inferno by Zenovia Interactive is an explosive fusion of 2D run-and-gun and gallery-shooter through the dense cyberpunk jungle of NYC 2055.
 

CYBRLICH and the Death Cult of Labor by Polyhedra Games Is an adrenaline fueled FPS/boomer shooter about a buff barbarian hacker taking down an evil undead corporate overlord.
 

And last but not least, we’d like to thank our hosts for their hospitality and help throughout the event!For over 14 years, Sparrow’s Nest Studio has been teaching classes, organizing competitions, and growing the community of mahjong in the US.

On The Horizon

  • Waffle Games, the EGD Collective’s annual student-run convention and conference held each spring semester is back April 5th-6th! Exhibitor and Speaker applications are now open. Exhibitor applications close on a rolling basis, and Speaker applications close on March 1st, so act fast!

  • Play NYC will be back, for its 10th anniversary show at Anime NYC August 21st-24th! To sign up for an info packet detailing exhibitor logistics, booth costs and everything in between, sign up here!

  • The 22nd Annual Games for Change Festival at Parsons School of Design at The New School will be happening June 26th to 27th! Under the theme “Designing for Tomorrow,” the festival will explore how games and immersive media can foster collaboration across generations, perspectives, and sectors

Before We Forget…

  • Applications to show off your next project at the Make It In BK Diversity in Game Design Pitch Contest are open until February 17th (tonight!). Five selected founders will pitch their ideas for the chance to win $5,000 cash, in-kind legal services provided by the Brooklyn Law Incubator and Policy Clinic (BLIP) at Brooklyn Law School, and the winner will be expedited to the final round of in-person interviews to secure a spot in the inaugural NYU Tandon School of Engineering Game Design Future Lab (GDFL).

  • Applications for New York City’s new digital game design incubator—the Game Design Future Lab (GDFL)—within NYU Tandon Future Labs have been extended to February 28th! The GDFL is a one year, in-person accelerator program designed for early-stage game developers who are post-prototype but pre-commercialization. Specifically, those with a unique game concept or technology. The program will take place at NYU Tandon in Brooklyn.

  • SPELLHACK!! by Computer Dream is a survival deck builder that features fast-paced combat and a surreal 1980s setting featuring live action video.

Beta/Early Access/Demo

  • Ritual Night by Outfox Games is a social deduction game where Monsters work together to complete the ritual, while stealthy humans secretly sabotage and cause chaos.

  • ChainStaff by Mommy’s Best Games is a brutal action-platformer with a transforming spear and grappling hook, blazing weapon upgrades, and a rocking soundtrack.

  • Have You Herd? by Tideturners is a frantic couch co-op herding adventure where you help Maloy and his pups get their much needed vacation and end the Herd-pocalypse!

  • Rosewater by Grundislav Games is a thrilling Western adventure in the alternate 19th century world of Lamplight City, officially releasing on MARCH 27TH!

  • Scramble Heart City by M. Paul Weeks is a 3v3 tag-team fighter that’s beginner-friendly to pick up and play but features deep team and movement mechanics that reward practice and mastery.

  • Coming Soon Take Us North by Anima Interactive is a narrative adventure/survival game that follows the journeys of migrants and asylum seekers on their way to cross the US-Mexico border

  • Coming Soon Returning Home by Toii Games is a collaborative storytelling game about the journey of resolving family conflicts.

  • Applications to join GUMBO are open! GUMBO is a non-profit collective of indie game creators located in Dumbo, Brooklyn formed to inspire and motivate each other, stay current in the indie game makers community, and expand an already amazing skill-sharing network.

GUMBO Board Game/Tabletop Playtest Night – Come meet some board game designers, play some unreleased games, and maybe even make some new friends!

 

Thursday, February 27th

NYC Indie Dev Night with Playcrafting – Indie devs, gamers, publishers, industry vets and students – this is the place to come meet others in the community, network and talk shop – and check out what games NYC is cookin’ up!

Brooklyn Experimental Electronic Music Group – Join the local electronic music community for a showcase featuring an eclectic mix of New York City artists working in a variety of styles.

Parsons D&T Pop-Up Arcade at Wonderville – Students at Parsons MFA and BFA Design & Technology have come together to demo and test their latest playful creations at Wonderville!

NYC Indie Games Social – The NYC Indie Games social is a monthly gathering for indie game devs of all stripes to mix and mingle in a casual, relaxed setting.

Monthly 2 Hr GameJam Club: Mario Builder 64 – This month join Wonderville in using Mario Builder 64 to make games in under 2 hours. Bring a computer!

  • The Game Design Future Lab is accepting applications from individuals and teams – New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) and NYU Tandon School of Engineering, has officially launched New York City’s new digital game design incubator within NYU Tandon Future Labs. [Deadline: February 28th]

  • NYCEDC’s 2025 Founder Fellowship program is a startup accelerator designed to improve access to capital and networks for a diverse community of NYC tech founders. 75 companies will be selected across unique cohorts led by Chloe Capital, Company Ventures, Gold House, Newlab, and Visible Hands. Sign up to be among the first to be notified when the application opens

Exhibit/Speak/Publish

  • The 2025 Rochester Game Fest Spring Mini Show will be held at the Irondequoit Public Library on Saturday, April 5th and has opened applications for exhibitors!

  • Difference Engine invites you to submit pitches for their upcoming anthology Free to Play: A Video Games Anthology, which will be published in 2026. This print publication spanning fiction, creative non-fiction, poetry, comics, visual art pieces, and multimedia works will be an exciting collection that celebrates games, gaming, and play. [Deadline March 31st]

  • Submissions for the Six One Indies Showcase are now open! There is no cost to submit, there will be no cost if your game is selected for the Showcase, and Six One Indie does not offer commercial/sponsored spots. The Six One Indie Showcase aims to offer promotional opportunities to indie developers that may not have the means to highlight their games within the traditional showcase ecosystem of the industry. [Deadline: February 28th]

  • 2025 Minecraft Education Battle of the Boroughs – The Esports competition is now open and available to any NYC Public School students grade K-12.
  • BXStart is a platform dedicated to fostering the intersection of game development and entrepreneurship in the Bronx community. Sign up to showcase your game at their Indie Game Night held every third Friday of the month!
