LA’s IGDA chapter is excited to kick off 2020 with some fantastic events, but first, let’s take a look back at all the awesome things that happened in 2019!

In January, we met up to hear from the community in an open QA about the issues they found most important so that we can create and connect them to the programming that is most valuable.

Following a string of layoffs in LA and the surrounding area, our chapter hosted a recruiting and networking event with over a dozen companies at Industrious Century City.

Hawkins High School Game Fair

IGDA visited a student Game Fair for the C:\DAGS High School Game Design program at Hawkins High School where our own Chris DeLeon judged the many awesome student games on display!

To get everybody in the mood for some E3 networking, we hosted a meetup for our local members at The Butcher’s Dog in West LA.

IGDA LA Coffee Meetup (Sept.)

To mix things up a bit, we decided to host a lower-key meet up at Boardhouse Coffee in Santa Monica, and it was a great success!  Attendees got to sit down in a quieter environment and truly get to know one another.

Elections

This Fall we ran elections that brought in 3 new board members (Luis Brito, Britney Winthrope, and Miranda Due) and brought our board size up to 7 members so we can put on even more awesome events in 2020!

IGDA LA Coffee Meetup (December)

Following the success of our earlier coffee meet up, Boardhouse Coffee hosted us again for our more personal kind of meet up where we welcomed some new members to the LA game dev community.
