Letter from the ED – November 2022

9 Nov 2022

Hello Everyone,

I hope you’re having a good November thus far.

We have some exciting plans for this month and I hope you’ll join us in them. First and foremost, I hope you register for PathfindinGS, which is our three week conference to showcase and highlight the amazing work that developers across the global south are doing. PathfindinGS starts this Friday, so please get your FREE ticket here.

The first week of PathfindinGS will highlight game developers from Latin America. Next week, we will feature game developers from Africa and the Middle East. And the following week, we will feature game developers from South Asia, South East Asia, and indigenous developers of Australia and New Zealand. We hope to see you at PathfindinGS where we can connect on the MeetToMatch platform. You can view all the recordings of PathfindinGS on YouTube about a week after each session.

The other thing I wanted to put on your radar is that we’re hosting a webinar in collaboration with Nom Nom Data. Nom Nom Data wants to help developers and studios have better engineering for their data, better architecture for their data, and better structures and support systems so that you don’t have to worry about data losses or million dollar issues that you might come across. Please join us on 17 November by registering here.

Additionally, we are preparing for next year and determining which events we will have a physical presence at and which events we will have a virtual presence at. Please look out for future outreach from us about what our event schedule looks like for next year. If anything excites you, be sure to join us–maybe volunteer if you’re going to be at one of the in-person events too! We always are looking for volunteers for our booth or just to help connect other people and spread the word of IGDA.

As always, if you have any questions or comments, please feel free to reach out to me. I hope you have a wonderful rest of your November.

Take care and happy timezone,

Dr. Jakin Vela
