This incredible collaboration with CORE and Global Game Jam had game developers from across the globe competing to make the most festive and magical experiences, with over 50 incredible submissions received. From thoughtful reflections on the past year, to intricately modeled gingerbread houses, and celebrations of local customs, it was a magical experience. With the three themes of Festive Joy, Gingerbread Decorations, and 2021 Wrapped, the creators really pushed it to the limit to deliver incredible games.

Over 15 different winners took home a share of the $10,000 prize pool, as well as IGDA Memberships, with the Best of Show winner receiving an All-Access Pass to GDC 2022 in addition to $1,000!

Welcome to the North Pole

Ever wonder what it’s like to be inside of a snow globe? This entry takes you on a journey through their childhood, encapsulated in an iconic symbol of the wintery season. Add in the fun of a snowball fight, and you have the spirit and joy of the season all in one submission.

Old Town Christmas

This highly detailed build depicts the beautiful views of an old Romanian city square during the holidays. Inspired by the developer’s favorite city from their home country, it captures the magic of a European Christmas market and allows you to experience the wonder. Their fantastic eye for detail in creating a holiday scene filled with cheer is what granted them the win in the Festive Joy category.

A Festive Wish

One of the categories challenged creators to build their best gingerbread house – not only did this entry create their gingerbread CASTLE, they included a charming animated story that told the origins of their creation. Delicious AND entertaining, this one is sure to surprise you.
