Making Waves

  • Missed the Game Devs of Color Expo last month? Don’t worry! You can still check out all the games featured in this year’s Gradient Convergence event, read up on each game with Blerdy Otome and watch the GDoCExpo Direct!

  • Tech Valley Game Space held their first in-person event in two years with game demos from local creators, pitches from Level Upstate participants, an interactive panel, and major announcements! Check out the recap here!
  • The 28th annual Interactive Fiction Competition just launched with 71 new games to play and rate for free! Voting runs through mid-November.

  • E-On by Frosted Window and Marcel Oyuela-Bonzani – A narrative-focused “social media exploration” game, inspired by Serial Experiments Lain and the optimistic vision of the internet during the early 2000’s

  • ValiDate: Struggling Singles in your Area by Veritable Joy Studios is a romantic visual novel about 13 adults in Jercy City navigating new relationships and the harsh realities that come alongside them.

  • Betrayal At Club Low by Cosmo D Studios is a tabletop RPG inspired Nightclub infiltration game with tactile dice-driven gameplay, and tense decisions at every turn.

  • Wylde Flowers by Studio Drydock – Now available on Switch! Wylde Flowers is a cozy life and farming sim with a witchy twist! Escape to a cute world of diverse folks, and magical spells, as you and the coven unravel a mystery!

  • Shotgun Farmers by Megastorm Games – Recently featured at the Rochester Games Festival, Shotgun Farmers is a fast-paced FPS where your bullets grow into new weapons!

Ongoing Initiatives

  • Applications to join GUMBO are open! GUMBO is a non-profit collective of indie game creators located in Dumbo, Brooklyn formed to inspire and motivate each other, stay current in the indie game makers community, and expand an already amazing skill-sharing network.

  • In support of Wonderville, consider becoming a member of Death By Audio Arcade to earn discounts on event tickets, help the team raise funds to build new arcade cabinets and make other cool things happen with local game devs!

  • ANNY Exchange is a Talent Connect Initiative for Animation Nights New York. Want to participate and be added to the database of Animation Talent from all around the world? More info here

  • Animation Nights New York (ANNY) is always accepting submissions for Animated Short Films, AR Animation Experiences, VR animation Experiences, and Interactive Media (including Video Games). More info here

  • Games for Change is partnering with Unity on a series of workshops to empower educators to build the next generation of lifelong creators in real-time 3D development. Middle and high school educators will come to learn best practices for teaching and implementing Unity in their classrooms, and receive hands-on training from experts. Funding/Programs/Contests

  • The Diverse Voices, New Stories Mobile Challenge hosted by Games for Change is inviting developers to submit completed or nearly completed Android mobile games that have not yet been published on Android app stores.
