Welcome to the IGDA SF chapter
The mission of the IGDA is to advance the careers and enhance the lives of game developers by connecting members with their peers, promoting professional development, and advocating on issues that affect the developer community.
Our IGDA San Francisco Chapter is a vibrant and inclusive community dedicated to fostering the growth and advancement of the game development industry in San Francisco (including East Bay and North Bay). As a part of the larger IGDA organization, we are committed to supporting game developers, professionals, enthusiasts, and students in their pursuit of excellence and innovation.
The San Francisco chapter lives by this mission and values and at a local level, our values are to:
- Support the work and growth of people working in the gaming and development community.
- Promote adherence to IGDA code of ethics within our community, companies and events.
- Foster an inclusive and welcoming community for all people interested in games or game development.
- Evangelize gaming and game creators in the greater San Francisco Bay Area and center an environment centered on play, story, and exploration.
- Become an industry space for finding talent, opportunities, resources, and groups; Including virtual and in-person meetups, jobs resources, education, events, game jams, and more.
- Advocate for issues that impact the game industry in the San Francisco Bay Area.
IGDA San Francisco is open to members and non-members who work in the gaming industry, are interested in gaming, or are transitioning into the industry.
Community members can participate in and benefit from opportunities like:
- Social events like virtual and in person meetups, museum days, Golden Gate park picnics, game jams, GDC events
- Professional events like coffee chats and networking meetups, discussions
- Educational resources like workshops, panels, white papers
- Inclusive and welcoming community of collaborators, mentors, employers, and friends
Through virtual and in-person events, presentations, panels, and more, our goal is to build a strong community in San Francisco to share ideas, promote discussions within the game industry and provide a space to connect, learn, and have fun.
