Welcome to the IGDA Berlin Chapter

Welcome to the Berlin IGDA chapter dedicated to connecting the thriving Berlin scene locally and internationally with networking, learning, and events.

We lean on IGDA’s mission to bring together developers to help them grow in their craft, build community, advocate and amplify their voices, creating inclusive spaces where empathy, respect, and understanding are core tenets.

To achieve this goal, we organise events, workshops, and other activities that build on the vibrant local game development scene in Berlin, amplifying the voices of other organisations. Working together, we hope to establish Berlin’s Chapter as a hub for local and international connections, creating a thriving, supportive community for game developers of all levels and backgrounds.

What We Do

For Students, Emerging Creators & Changing paths

Berlin’s educational landscape brings new game talent into the city every year. We run targeted initiatives to help bridge the gap into the professional scene:

• University Visits and Fairs: Becoming a point of contact for practical guidance on navigating and integrating into the Berlin dev community.
• Mentorship programs: Transparent insights into local hiring, studio culture, and career paths. An opportunity to share knowledge, experience, and goals.

For Industry Professionals & Independent Devs

We host and support regular gatherings to keep local developers connected, sharp, and supported:

• Lectures, Workshops & Roundtables focusing on local industry needs and our members.
• Playtest & Feedback Evenings to share works-in-progress with local peers in a supportive setting.

We actively collaborate with and amplify the local organizations and grassroots meetups shaping Berlin’s unique games scene:

• A MAZE. / Berlin: World-renowned international festival for arthouse, experimental, and playful media.
• Berlin Game Scene & Talk & Play: Community hub hosting Talk & Play, a free bimonthly showcase and talk series connecting players, makers, and enthusiasts in a safe space environment.
• Berlin Mini Game Jam: A relaxed, regular 8-hour prototyping jam and creative hangout open to all skill levels.
• FemDevsMeetup: Inclusive networking events, safe spaces, and game jams for women, marginalized groups, and allies in the games industry.
• Games Ground: Berlin-based gaming festival bridging players, developers, and local industry professionals.
• Game Creators Hangout: Monthly casual social mixer hosted by Game Developers Berlin for creators, hobbyists, and developers of all backgrounds to connect and chat.
• media:net berlinbrandenburg: Regional network connecting digital media, games, and tech companies across Berlin and Brandenburg.
• Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg: The primary regional funding body supporting prototype and game production in the capital region.
• Saftladen: Berlin’s premier indie game collective and co-working space, housing local indie developers and hosting community hangouts.
• Womenize!: Action program and event series dedicated to highlighting and empowering women, non-binary people, and marginalized voices in games & tech.
