Dan Hon has posted a transcript of the ARG panel at this year's South by Southwest:
Part game, story and treasure hunt, alternate reality games introduce people to a world of creative play, skywriting, online games, phone calls, radio broadcasts, secret websites, blogs, texts, coded adverts, emails, hidden audio files and helicopter chases. What you need to know about what’s been happening and what’s happening next from industry leaders.

Let's Be Serious: Non-Casual Investigations into Alternate Reality Gaming
Mark Heggen has posted an article discussing: "various non-casual investigations into alternate reality gaming. I had some wonderful question responses from Jane McGonigal, Brian Clark of GMD Studios, Sean Stewart of 42 Entertainment, Dan Hon of Mind Candy, and many others."
http://retext.blogspot.com/2007/05/lets-be-serious-non-casual.html
NOTE: This article is available in PDF format at: http://markheggen.com/heggen_noncasual_ARG.pdf - Mark recommends this version instead, since it comes with lots of extra typesetting etc and is somewhat easier to read

ARG walkthrough: Troy
Troy was a very short ARG created earlier this year as part of the Experimental Games Workshop. The author, TJ Jackson, later wrote a complete walkthrough including his design aims and intent.
With his permission, this has now been uploaded to the ARG examples page, along with a link to the game itself (hopefully we'll mirror the game itself at some point, but that's a little tricky...)

UK Group Gathering - Brighton, 12 July
12 July: 14:00-15:00, Develop Conference Expo Floor
Thanks to the IGDA, we'll be having another ARG SIG "Group Gathering", at the Develop Conference in Brighton. We'll probably be a much smaller group this time, so please come along if you can.
We hope to get a fair number of games developers and publishers coming along to talk about and find out more about ARG's.
Like last time, it will be an informal event, and it would be great to see some of you there sharing your ARG experiences. It should also be a good opportunity to meet up with some other members of the SIG.
Last time, we had around 20 people turn up and ended up kickstarting the ARG Whitepaper that's now well under way. Let's see what we end up doing this time...

Welcome to the ARG SIG
Alternate Reality Games (ARGs), or Cross-Media Entertainment (CME), are where the game breaks out of being a dedicated application on your PC, and instead becomes a part of the world in which you live.
Since 2001, they have been breaking exciting new ground in online gaming, appearing to redefine some of the accepted rules of game development:
- virtual worlds where all the players are constantly altering the world by their actions
- characters that manifest in the real world, yet every nuance of interaction feeds back into the game
- deep stories that effortlessly suck-in the players and hold them rapt
- thousands of players at a time collaborating intensively, with no griefing
This SIG has been founded to bring together those already designing, building, and running ARGs, in order to share knowledge, experience, and ideas for the future. We hope to spark renewed debate and experimentation on the uses and pros of ARGs, and to help developers new to the genre to develop good products first-time round.
