SUMMARY:Games Emerge Conference
DESCRIPTION:Games Emerge Conference (GEC) is Pakistan’s biggest game industry event that gathers national\, international industry veterans and aspiring game developers\, game designers\, game artists\, producers\, and publishers together under one roof. The primary goal of GEC is to promote the video game development industry in Pakistan. The event aims to provide learning\, mentoring and networking opportunities for video game development students and industry professionals. \nPixelArt Games Academy hosts GEC 2020 to continue the legacy of creating and promoting a vibrant community of game developers in Pakistan. SUMMARY:Global Game Jam 2020 - IGDA Cincinnati
DESCRIPTION:It’s that time of the year again!\n\n\nGlobal Game Jam is right around the corner\, and IGDA Cincinnati is hosting this year at the University of Cincinnati! \nYup yup\, IGDA Cincinnati has teamed up with UC to put on GGJ yet again. We have an amazing space this year\, and it will accommodate all our assorted jammin’ needs. We will be in the Teachers College / Dyer Hall on the first floor\, room 160. \nIf this is your first game jam\, here are the deets: During the weekend\, you will have 48 hours to create a game based on a theme. No one will know the theme until the day of the event to keep the ideas fresh\, thunked up day-of. At the end of the weekend\, the goal is to have made a game\, but that’s just icing on the cake. We’re here to learn\, network with local devs\, and join in the grand worldwide celebration of the game making community\, with 600 other locations all over the world. \nNo specific skills are required to participate in the event. We’ll pop you on a team and make that magic happen. \nFriday: We will all meet up at 6pm on UC’s campus in the game jam room\, allowing a little time for people to show up. We will begin with a brief presentation of our sponsors and information IGDA and what to expect from the event. \n**Then we’ll unveil the theme at 7PM**. \nThe rest of the time on Friday will be networking with others and brainstorming ideas for games. \n**WE WILL DISPERSE AT MIDNIGHT FRIDAY NIGHT**\nEveryone should get at least one good nights sleep! \nSaturday: The real work begins. We will start bright and early (7AM) to maximize the weekend’s time in crafting our projects. We will be there all night Saturday. \nSunday: We’ll wrap up our projects and put them on display at 5pm. \nSome side notes to keep in mind during the weekend: \nThere will be NO cover charge to attend–we want everyone to feel welcome and able to join.\nThere will not be food provided at the event; however\, the Clifton area nearby is chock-full of tasty foods within easy walking distance.\nYou must be over the age of 18 to participate.\nThere is a parking garage next to the building with a daily rate of $10. SUMMARY:Unconscious Bias & Inclusion in the Workplace Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join Celia Hodent\, an expert in cognitive psychology\, for her latest Masterclass “Unconscious Bias & Inclusion in the Workplace”. \nThe former director of UX at Epic Games (Fortnite) and PhD in psychology will take participants through this 4-hour masterclass diving into the limitations and biases of the human mind. This workshop will help participants to recognize those biases\, account for them\, and redesign the workplace accordingly to foster a more inclusive environment. \nHumans do not think rationally. We believe that we have an accurate perception\, an accurate memory\, or that we can multitask efficiently. We believe that we are in full control of our decisions according to our values\, that we have free will\, that we can understand others\, that we are logical beings. Sadly\, this is all a lie. This workshop proposes to explore some of the most common cognitive and social unconscious biases that trick us into making bad decisions in everyday life and prevent us from building a more inclusive environment\, even if we understand the importance of diversity. It will also offer tips to avoid falling prey to these biases as much as we can\, and improve diversity & inclusion in the hiring and promotion processes. \nYou can register or find out more about the event here \nIGDA members save 10% on tickets
