Computer games are not only a commercial phenomenon but can also be of artistic and philosophical nature. The name CRYSTAL CANVAS refers to artists turning to other media for expression: from traditional canvas to the liquid one\, the crystal display. Digital painting used in design and promotion of computer games\, combining the world of art and technology\, broadens the discussion of image as a medium for expression and content. The unique phenomenon that firmly developed on account of computer games is concept drawing. For a long time traditional drawing also had not been recognized as an independent form of visual art. Drawings were made to encapsulate the artist’s idea on a sketch in preparation for a painting or a sculpture. Similarly\, nowadays\, concept art is the introduction and the basis for developing the real games assets; it designs the atmosphere\, the characters and the environment of the virtual world. Those elements will affect gamers emotionally or even physically\, as they identify themselves with video games heroes. Due to this immersive character of computer games\, in addition to creating possibilities\, a great responsibility lies on the shoulders of game designers. \n\nFor more information or to enter\, visit their website.

SUMMARY:IGDA Philly September Meeting: An Evening with Steve Mazzeo
DESCRIPTION:Harold Ramis was right. There’s definitely a very slim chance we’ll survive…or die \nThe randomness we encounter games shapes the ludological stories we tell around those games. Yes\, there are a lot of factors but the amount and type of randomness designers include in the game most often is the reason we’re telling a story of amazing triumph or abysmal woe. The rules often shove the results of randomness in our face. Then we contemplate what could have happened if the RNG went our way\, or we pulled that card\, or we rolled just a little better. The good stories aren’t about blame or whining\, they’re about the classical idea of the gods nudging a die or moving a card to the top of the deck for one player or another. \nPre-reg for the event here: https://drexel.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_PTFp8jWSQrSMV9OHZoWCPg

DESCRIPTION:Monday\, September 14 – Friday\, September 18\, 2020 \nhttps://www.pgconnects.com/helsinki/ \nFollowing two fantastic digital events in 2020\, Pocket Gamer Connects will celebrate this year’s Helsinki edition online too! \nThe need to connect and do business remains as strong as ever\, despite many of us being isolated at home. We had hoped that IRL games industry networking events would return to normal as the year continues\, but we’ve accepted that 2020 is going to be an unusual one all the way to the winter. \nThis means that we cannot return physically to Helsinki this year\, but we will be doing the next best thing\, by squishing our traditional Helsinki edition with our world-beating Digital editions to create an online event that you can join no matter where you’re working from! \nAnd you can also join our partner event which caters towards blockchain gaming. Your ticket will grant you access to both Pocket Gamer Connects Helsinki Digital and Blockchain Gamer LIVE! Digital – one mega week of conference activity. \nAs one of an expected 1\,500+ delegates\, you will have access to an innovative online platform for five days in September. \nYou’ll be able to select from a programme of great live video content full of insight and practical advice across ten themed conference tracks. We will be celebrating the best of fantastic Finland\, the spiritual home of mobile gaming\, but also casting the net wide to bring you the most insightful content from around the world. You can watch the tracks live or catch up on the recorded videos within your own time\, and if you’re online while the speakers are performing you’ll be able to interact with them and the other viewers with questions and comments. \nYou can expect the usual inspiring talks from over 250 speakers who will educate and inspire through an agenda of themed tracks set to cover monetisation and growth\, global game trends and company culture\, development tools and stories and strategies to thrive in the modern gaming market be it mobile\, PC\, console\, blockchain or XR. \nOn top of the talks\, you’ll also be able to search and connect with other attendees\, to meet\, discuss\, do deals and make plans using the MeetToMatch online meeting platform. The platform will go live a couple of weeks ahead of the event. Plus we’ll also be running online variants of our celebrated Big Indie Pitch\, Investor Connector\, and Publisher SpeedMatch activities\, that will bring together specific groups with specific needs. \nBook your tickets now and join us for Pocket Gamer Connects Helsinki Digital and Blockchain Gamer LIVE!
