SUMMARY:IGDA Atlanta Game Showcase
DESCRIPTION:About This Event\nThe digital entertainment industry was worth $43.8 billion last year\, and Georgia is poised to surpass New York state as the 2nd largest entertainment industry region in the country. Video games made in Georgia have been winning national accolades and invitations to renown conferences. The IGDA Atlanta chapter strongly believes that integration with our greater Georgia community is the best way for all parties to gain value and recognition and take advantage of this booming industry. \nOn display will be some of the finest games Georgia has to offer. Most of these games are seeking partnerships to help them present their work to the wider world. This is your opportunity to meet these developers and create an opportunity for yourself in this rapidly expanding market. \nAbout the games\nParallel: Multi-linear Story RPG \nPolyroll: The roly poly with attitude has to rescue his friends from the evil Kaiser Kiwi in this retro platformer inspired by the classics! \nLooking For Heals: Command your squad of warriors while keeping them from an early grave in the only rogue-lite where the healer calls the shots. Heal\, shield\, and resurrect your way through a world filled with tough choices\, powerful items\, and elaborate boss fights inspired by MMO dungeon raids. \nSiNKR 2: ”SiNKR 2 is a minimalist puzzle game evolved from the award winning SiNKR. There is just you\, hooks\, pucks\, and various contraptions. SiNKR 2 employs familiar contraptions (square and round holes\, kickers\, and portals) in new layouts\, e.g. spirals; linear and rotational symmetry. Subtle differences within level themes drive different solutions to superficially similar scenarios.” \nDepth of Extinction: Explore a flooded world and save humanity from a terrible threat in this turn based\, tactical RPG with roguelike elements

SUMMARY:Workshop - 3D Modeling & Printing for Tabletop Games
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a workshop on 3D modeling and 3D printing taught by Zane Everett! We will cover the basics of designing game pieces for tabeltop games and answer the following questions: \n\nWhat are the steps necessary to design a game piece?\nHow do I prepare my designs for 3D printing?\nWhat should I know about the different types of 3D printers?\nAnd more!\n\nAfter participating in this workshop\, you will walk away with a foundation in game design\, and be equipped to create your own board games! \nThis is the second workshop in a series of four as we prepare for September’s Table Topathon game jam! \nAbout the Instructor\, Zane Everett: \nZane Everett is an industry veteran who works at Motion Reality as a Senior Gameplay Programmer. At Motion Reality\, he has worked on an auto-networked ECS Framework in Unity to create experiences for Motion Reality’s motion capture hardware. Before joining the VR team at Motion Reality\, he created educational video games at Cogent Education for 6 years. In that time\, he created several AI\, physics\, UI\, and tool systems for 16 short games and extensions to Unity using an MVC Framework. He has also toyed around with GPU programming and Machine Learning. \nIn his spare time\, Zane is creating an area of control board game set in Southeast Asia titled Raja Mandala. As the Lead Designer\, Zane developed the main gameplay mechanic based on the political organization of ancient Southeast Asia and provides research material for artists to create the game’s evocative imagery. \nAs an IGDA Atlanta board member\, Zane helps to organize events around Atlanta and bring wider attention to the games created in the area. \nAbout Tabletop Topathon: \nTabletop Game Jam is designed to allow participants to learn the fundamentals of game development. This event challenges its attendees to create primarily tabletop creations that push their creativity to the max. They may make purely analog creations or mixed media with technological augmentations. Table Topathon hopes to encourage a different type of thinking to expand their knowledge of game development. \nThank you to our sponsors! \nThis event is brought to you by the Creative Media Industries Institute\, the Atlanta Chapter of the International Game Developers Association\, and Aurora Game Development Club.

SUMMARY:IGDA Cincinnati - Introduction to Unreal Engine Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join us in one of CCM’s Electronic Media labs at the University of Cincinnati for an introductory workshop on making games in the Unreal Engine. Steve Hopper and Tim Zachary of Rogue Wolf Games will be walking us through making a simple marble-in-a-maze game using Unreal’s blueprints system. \nIf you’d like to follow along\, be sure to install the Unreal Engine on a laptop (it’s free!) and bring it along. \nThere’s a paid parking lot underneath CCM and plenty of street parking around campus. We’re meeting on the 3000 level of Mary Emery Hall. Here’s a map: https://www.uc.edu/content/dam/uc/af/pdc/maps/maps2019/2019%20UC%20West%20Campus%20bw.pdf \nIf you get lost on campus on your way to the room\, contact Clayton Belcher: (513) 444-3705. \nSpace is relatively limited for this event (~16 or so seats)\, so it’s first-squat\, first-learn. Please try to mark your attendance as truthfully as you can to help others decide whether to try to join. \nSee ya there!
