[edit] July 2007 Updates

[edit] General

  • Updated to version 1.10 of MediaWiki, the software behind this wiki
    • Old version was 1.4 -- this was a major boost as MediaWiki has become much more stable and many great new extensions can now be installed
  • URLs are now much shorter and cleaner
    • Eliminated the "index.php?title=" from URLs

[edit] Searching, browsing, and tracking

  • Recent changes page can now be filtered by categories
  • Hierarchical category display
    • When looking at a category's page, sub-categories are now displayed as a hierarchy (ala Wikipedia)

[edit] Look and feel

  • The IGDA logo is now used as favicon for the wiki
    • Very helpful for tabbed browsing
    • A small "w" has been added the lower-right corner to distinguish pages from the main IGDA site from pages from the wiki

[edit] User privileges and customization

  • User-specific JavaScript is now allowed
    • User:Username/monobook.js (where Username is your username) can now be edited to allow users to add any number of JavaScript-driven client-side tools to help them interact with the wiki
