[edit] Valve Source Engine

  • Currently there are many game engines we could have used spanning from Current generation engines to even quake 1. Several team members have experience in the doom3 engine from id but the current network performance of this engine was deemed insufficient for this mods needs. In the end the Source engine came out on top. This is not to say it is the "best" engine for making a mod but rather the best in various catagories that will help exploit this mods features. The game design it self may find it self on other game engine in the future.
  • any one can set thier computer up to create a source (HL2) mod. All you need is a purchased copy of HL2 and a steam account. Through the steam account you can select the source SDK option form a "tool" tab found in steam. This option will down load and set up a mod directory from which to work.
  • The Source SDK not only come wit the source code from which to work but contains several other tools for content creation. These tool would include Hammer, the source engines level editor.
