It is possible to change the term of office from two years to three years by majority vote of the Executive Committee.

  • Leadership

Leadership is currently appointed by the Chairperson.

  • Conflict of Interest

IGDA EdSIG Executive Committee members must attempt to avoid conflicts of interest between their professional duties of office and their private interests. Specifically, a potential conflict of interest shall be said to exist if:

  • a person editing an IGDA EdSIG publication decides whether his/her own article should be published or how it should be edited,
  • a IGDA EdSIG officer wishes to represent this organization as a speaker at an IGDA event, or
  • an SIG officer uses the name or resources of the SIG
    • to promote the sale of commercial materials or services, or
    • to seek employment opportunities or elective offices.
  • Resignation

Members of the Executive Committee can step down by delivering a letter of resignation to SIG Chairperson. It is requested that prior to vacating a position, a report of all outstanding and current initiatives be delivered so that a transition will be smooth. If an officer resigns or vacates his/her position, all IGDA EdSIG Executive Committee members shall be informed of the vacancy via email by the Chairperson. The Executive Committee shall have one week to seek nominees by requesting for volunteers via the IGDA EdSIG listserv. The committee then shall elect a successor to serve in that position until the next IGDA Executive Committee meeting.

  • Removal

An Executive Committee member who fails to perform his or her duties they may be removed from office by a decision from the Chairperson. The committee member in question shall be notified via email, allowed to make a rebuttal to the Committee, and offered the option to resign.

  • Duty to Report

Executive Committee members are required by IGDA to report on a yearly basis.

  • Voting

Elections shall be held at the Annual SIG Meeting held at GDC by voice vote. Voting shall be by secret written ballots when there are contested positions. Nominations for Executive Committee may be submitted in writing to the EdSIG Chairperson prior three weeks prior to Annual Meeting. Candidates will have up to three weeks to present themselves to the rest of the IGDA EdSIG community though a candidate statement. Any member of the SIG may nominate members in good standing for any office.

Before announcing the results of an election, ballot results, if any, shall be examined by at least two CALL SIG officers or three IGDA EdSIG members who are not candidates for the office/s in question.

In the event of a tie vote, the members of the CALL SIG Coordinating Committee present, excepting the Chair, shall cast the deciding votes.

  • Vacancies

A vacancy on the Executive Committee shall be filled by open call for volunteers via the listserv.
