GDC is the premier annual event for the people who make games. It is a great opportunity for us to integrate content that looks at education and it’s positive relation with the industry.
[edit] Plan of Action
Goals:
- To build on the successes of prior academic summits and curriculum workshops
- To listen to the community to help best determine what should be offered

[edit] Current Status
A one or two-day workshop focused on game design and instructional design.
The goal of this workshop is two-fold. First, participants will be provided with information and resources on how to incorporate games into educational settings and situations. Second, this workshop will serve as the basis for an annual educational focus at GDC that will serve the SIG and the membership at large in regards to education and games.
In addition, select panels will be incorporated into the regular portion of GDC to help strengthen the connections between academics and industry professionals and help increase and improve the dialogue.
Overall, the IGDA Education SIG is looking to establish a noted educational presence that will evolve into a fundamental part of GDC.
