It has been an honor serving as your Chair this year, and as my term draws to a close in early June, writing this newsletter naturally brings me to reflect on the many happenings around the IGDA this year. I stood for the Chairman's post expecting a combination of much hard work and perhaps a chance to advance a few of the goals I really believe in; the reasons I joined the IGDA in the first place. I'm happy to say there were indeed chances for both. Perhaps the most important accomplishment in the hard work category is our new relationship with Talley Management, which is already paying dividends in our ability to serve our members, but which will have much greater impact in the coming years. No longer just a paper tiger, the IGDA is rapidly building a world-class infrastructure to give developers more support than ever before. At the same time, those of you who have loyally followed my newsletters over the past 12 months will know I have devoted substantial efforts to advancing some of the causes I believe passionately in, such as the IGDA Game Crediting Standard which this year reached the beta stage. Of course I'm not actually going anywhere, and will continue to work on all these things next year as Chair Emeritus, but it's time for a new Chair to step forward and focus our organization's efforts on the next step. So I'd meanwhile like to take one last moment to thank my fellow board members for all their help this term, as well as all of our members and partners who have made this a banner year for the IGDA. It has indeed been an honor. Game on! - Brian Reynolds Chairperson, IGDA President, Big Huge Games *************************************** ** Ad: The Develop Conference & Expo ** *************************************** The Develop Conference & Expo in Brighton/UK, 24-26 July 2007, is where the European developer community will come together to learn from each other and share experiences, be inspired by world renowned experts, get up-to-date with the latest development tools and techniques, plus make new contacts and catch-up with old ones.
